Nettle Leaf Extract 1oz
Nettle Leaf Extract 1oz
Urtica dioica is an herbaceous perennial in the Urticaceae family. The plant is known as “stinging nettle” because of the hollow hairs (tricomes) on the leaves and stem that cause a stinging sensation upon contact. Originally native to Europe, nettles can now be found worldwide in wet environments and moist soils. Nettle leaves are harvested in the spring once the plant has had time to mature, but before it flowers.
Urtica dioica has been used worldwide for centuries in a variety of countries and cultures. It has been eaten as a wild food plant, applied topically to the skin, and drunk as an herbal tea. It was used extensively for its fibers and was woven into cloth. Nettle fibers were considered high quality and comparable to flax or hemp in Northern Europe. Nettles are rich in nutrients and offer an abundance of health benefits. This prolific herb helps maintain upper respiratory health.* Nettle also supports healthy urinary function and has mild diuretic action.*
Our nettle leaf extract is macerated using fresh organic leaves and organic alcohol. Nettle leaf tincture has a very green and leafy botanical taste. It can be taken directly on the tongue or in juice or water. Nettle leaf extract combines well with dandelion root extract, burdock root extract, or yerba santa extract. Try adding a bit to a cup of dawn chorus tea for an extra nettle boost.
